At Rothiemurchus, they offer a whole host of exciting outdoor activities. Some that can be enjoyed with your two feet firmly planted on the floor, such as; Archery, Wildlife Photography, clay shooting, various walking routes and more. However, for those that enjoy something slightly more exhilarating a few feet above the land, you’ll relish their pony trekking, quad bike trekking, river tubing and white water rafting to name but a few!

Known locally as ‘the green loch’ this is one of the most beautiful spots in the Aviemore area. Legend has it, the bright green colour comes from pixies who wash their clothes in the water – although the other theory revolves around algae, which isn’t as much fun…

Loch Morlich is a freshwater loch in the Badenoch and Strathspey area of Highland, Scotland near Aviemore. The loch is home to a watersports centre with kayaking, sailing and windsurfing among the activities available. There is also a yacht club and cycling routes around the loch.

Loch Morlich enjoys one of the finest settings of any loch in the country. It is surrounded by forests and fringed by beaches, with the stunning backdrop of the often snow-clad peaks of the northern Cairngorms.

Discover Scottish wildlife and endangered animals of the world’s mountains and tundra in their spectacular setting. Explore their drive through reserve in your own car and then investigate the walk-round area on foot. The park has a wide and diverse range of animals, from native species such as the Scottish wildcat to those from further afield such as the amur tiger and polar bear.

The Strathspey Railway runs between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill in the Cairngorms. The attraction is run by a group of volunteer train enthusiasts, who have recreated a nostalgic experience of the 1950’s with great attention to detail.

The experience takes you back 50 years in time, with train guards in period dress, quaint old fashioned wagons and traditional restaurant carriage. If you get a first class ticket, you will be served tea, coffee and biscuits!

Known around the world as Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster has many places to hide in her very own Highland playground. Described as large, long-necked and with one or more humps protruding from the water, the most famous of all our inhabitants has been playing hide and seek since the 6th century when St Columba had the first encounter.
